The Westchester Triathlon is Back for 2025!
February 10, 2025Having been five years since racing last got underway, the event on September 20-21, 2025, is based at Rye Playland, an amusement park and waterfront destination in Rye, NY.
Rye Playland has been the main venue for the Westchester triathlon going back to the 1980s. In the 1990s, a re-birth of the Westchester Triathlon got under way via swim coach, and owner of Event Power, Steve Tarpinian.
Tarpinian took what was the USTS series to Westchester in 1996, with the race growing to around 2,000 athletes soon thereafter and registration closing out in minutes.
The Olympic distance event has a long history supporting charities such as The Challenge Athletes Foundation (CAF), The Blaze Foundation and the Rye YMCA. This will continue with the new race in 2025.
TOUGHMAN in a release added that… ‘Taking up the mantle, Westchester Endurance will host the race going forward. This new race team has 18 year’s worth of event production experience. There will be a cap at 500 athletes so that the race team can focus on every detail for a great racer experience. Registration is already 40% filled up in only three days since registration has been open.’
USAT sanctioned, TOUGHMAN Triathlon Westchester is also a qualifier for the USAT Age Group Nationals. There will be a kids triathlon and a 1 mile open water swim race for adults. Author of ‘From Couch Potato to Endurance Athlete’, Hilary Topper will be onsite to compete and give a talk on ‘Triathlon Tips for Beginners’.
Rye Town Park will also be offering an Open Water Swim Program during the summer leading up race day.
